Tropical Shipping Donates to Rotary Club of Georgetown Central

On Thursday, December 12, 2024, Tropical Shipping, a US-based transportation and logistics company with over 60 years of operation, made a generous donation to the Rotary Club of Georgetown Central. The presentation took place in a ceremony held in Georgetown, where Mrs. Glenis Hodge, Country Manager of Tropical Shipping in Guyana and Ms. Sherry Singh, Customer Deva and Administrative Manager in Guyana, handed over the contribution.

This donation is part of the company’s Community Relations Program, which focuses on supporting communities in the regions Tropical Shipping serves. The company’s initiative particularly emphasizes youth and educational programs that are impactful, unique, and sustainable.

She explained, “We take responsibility for our employees, customers, shareholders, and the communities in which we operate. Our community relations program provides continued support for the countries and islands where we serve, contributing to sustainability, growth, and development.”

Mrs. Hodge stressed the importance of strong partnerships, saying, “Good partnership is a requirement to make this happen.” She pointed out the meaningful collaboration with organizations like Rotary Georgetown Central, which focuses on various service projects, including youth development.

“Our donation today demonstrates our commitment to the development of youth in a rapidly growing Guyana,” she said. “We hope this contribution helps more youth benefit from

educational and developmental activities, opening doors of opportunities and contributing to the country’s overall growth and development.”

For over thirty years in Guyana, and more than sixty years globally, Tropical Shipping has supported initiatives aimed at fostering community growth. Mrs. Hodge affirmed that the company would continue to support such initiatives as it thrives in the dynamic shipping industry.
