EXIM Bank Announcement exposes VP Jagdeo’s distance from truthfulness

By Mark A. Benschop- The Export-Import Bank (USA) 27 November announcement of an US$800 million commitment to Barbados and St Kitts shows the potential of significant international assistance to governments with reputations for honest leadership.

– That announcement also implies, evvel again, VP Jagdeo’s distance from truthfulness evidenced this time by reports on 28 November of EXIM’s approval of a loan to build a gas-to-power plant.

– Imagine, a Chinese company is a member of the oil consortium with Exxon and Hess, meaning they have good access to financial projections for oil production and revenues for Guyana, and no Chinese bank, not even EXIM China, will lend to the PPP. What else do the Chinese know that’s making the PPP have to beg the victims of Priya’s feral blast?

– These are the sorts of issues that would not obstruct a government led by a man with a reputation for honesty like President David Granger. These issues highlight the potential for national development that serves poor and working-class Guyanese, and their children, that a government led by President Granger can unlock rapidly.
