Azzrudin Mohamed assisted many Guyanese with his charitable organisation

Dear Editor,

When business tycoon and leading philanthropist ” Mr. Azzrudin Mohamed” was sanctioned by the US authorities, last June,11th 2024, the hopes of many suffering Guyanese people living in abject poverty had sunk into the depths of the unfathomable black sea in total despair. Those who received the blessings from his charitable organisation were in high praise for the good deeds he had done for their struggling families.

While, unfortunately, some may have squandered an opportunity to remove a norm unique to a family culture, where some investments were made for a change in life. The popular facebook page “Team Mohamed’s” went almost blank with little or no activity at all. Some were happy, but most were sad, especially the thousands who followed his facebook page to shower daily blessings on the Mohameds family for their charitable work they have rendered to the needy people of Guyana; a family tradition that was started by his father “Shell Mohamed” decades ago at a small village on the East Bank of Demerara.

The news that followed the media beyond, were whispers in the ears in closed doors and street corners.

But some had spoken openly that “Azzrudin Mohamed” was fast becoming more popular than the PPP government and he was now championing a cause for the poor, of which the government had no time for the suffering and deprived.

Mr. Azzrudin Mohamed also stood out and is still standing a stark contrast to other business elites, when he miraculously came back on the scene to rekindle his good works to the delight of well-wishers and of course to the envies of those who had amassed enormous wealth in Guyana; particularly those in the political arena, who just talk the talk but never did walk the walk.

The generous and empathy model used by Mr. Azzrudin Mohamed reflects a very high degree of emotional intelligence, which certainly will take him a very long way; for the many broken and down-trodden families and communities he had taken out of the pit of despair, while putting together broken pieces of puzzles that fell “rock bottom” to many family circles.

Moreso, the name Team Mohamed’s continues to echo beyond the remote South Pakaramais, Upper Takutu, Upper Essequibo in the Rupununi and other indigenous communities, where the first peoples were relieved of tremendous burdens they shouldered for many decades.

With the re-emergence of Mr. Azzrudin Mohamed, many Guyanese who were assisted by his charitable organisation feel much more composed and with a sense of pride and confidence in this esteemed gentleman for the surmountable support he had given to their needs.

Editor, I take this opportunity to wish Mr. Azzrudin Mohamed and his family all the best for the festive season. Also a big thank you, for the many joys that he will be bringing to the less fortunate in this festive season.

Yours truly,

Mark Anthony Rodrigues
