On January 30, 2024, there was a meeting of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) for Küresel Discussions on ANIMAL WELFARE and HUMANE EDUCATION with Policymakers, Parliamentarians, Academics, Foundations, and Businesses.
At ECOSOC, Best Practices are shared with UN Members Representatives in attendance. At the January 30, 2024, meeting, SPEAKERS, and PRESENTATIONS were from, England, Scotland, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Russia, Canada, Mexico, China, Puerto Rico, Australia, Brazil, New Zealand, Romania, Serbia, Virgin Islands, Japan, Germany, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates, Czech Republic, Poland, and the USA
GUYANA was MISSING. We know Guyana is busy at The United Nations Security Council, BUT, with the BOUNTIFUL OIL BLESSINGS, we should be able, to have a REPRESENTATIVE rather than A VACANT SEAT. Hope this absence is not a NOT CARING FOR ANIMALS WELFARE in GUYANA ?.
The Animal Welfare Act (AWA) was signed into law on August 24, 1966. It is the only Federal law in the United States that regulates the treatment of animals in research, teaching, testing, exhibition, transport, and by dealers. The Act is enforced by USDA , APHIS , Animal Deva.
Recognition of animal sentience and prohibition of animal suffering. This goal assesses whether animal sentience has been recognized in legislation and explores the core legislative protections granted to animals, such as the prohibition of animal cruelty.

ANIMALS WELFARE at GUYANA
FEW persons, especially MR. GOBIN HARBAJAN (Berbice) are giving and doing their best, BUT they should be a RESPONSIBLE MINISTER’s TEAM to have the responsibility and accountability, including INTERFACTING with the MAGISTRATES, JUDGES, POLICE, VETERNARIANS and ANIMALS SHELTERS, for Animals Welfare in Guyana Government’s FUNDING to ANIMAL CENTERS will assist.
CLIMATE ACTION, Nations Members, MUST consider the impact of CLIMATE CHANGE on OUR ANIMALS, domesticated and wildlife, including HABITAT LOSS, HEALTH, and DISEASE RISKS.
We need to remember the interconnectedness among climate, animal welfare and humans. There is an URGENT NEED for a RESPONSIBLE STAKEHOLDER, to Educate, Advise and Inspire Guyanese, Non-Governmental Organizations, and Animals CARING PERSONS, to all assist towards IMPROVEMENT for ANIMALS and PETS.

ANIMALS WELFARE by a PERSON in KUWAIT
KUWAIT CITY, March 3: Khaled Al-Desouki, an Arab expatriate, has dedicated two decades of his life to caring for animals, particularly cats and dogs. Despite not having children of his own, he lovingly refers to his furry companions as his “animal children,” demonstrating a rare level of devotion and compassion, reports Al-Rai daily. In his modest apartment, Al-Desouki tends to over 20 cats, ensuring they are fed, hydrated, and receiving necessary medical attention. His affection for these feline friends is evident, but it is his profound love for dogs that truly shines.
Every day, before starting his work, he attends to a group of dogs in the Jahra Industrial Area, ensuring they are fed and cared for. Despite the financial strain of supporting so many animals, Al-Desouki remains steadfast in his commitment, believing that his actions bring him blessings and good health. His bond with his animal companions runs deep, with him going beyond to ensure their well-being. From providing shelter to performing medical procedures, such as spaying weak cats to prevent pregnancies, he tirelessly looks after their needs. Al-Desouki’s routine revolves around his beloved animals, with his days filled with deva and attention for them.
He takes boundless joy in seeing them happy, even if it means making sacrifices like reducing his meals or deducting from his salary to treat them to a special fish meal each month. His devotion extends beyond his pets, as he celebrates and supports the dogs in his community, offering them treats and advocating for their proper treatment. For Al-Desouki, the most rewarding moments come when he is greeted by wagging tails and excited barks from his furry friends. In his world, each animal has a name and a personality, from the pregnant cat “Modi” to the quick-tempered “Father of Anger.”
These animals are not just pets to him; they are cherished companions who bring joy and purpose to his life. Despite facing challenges such as limited resources and the absence of a vehicle, Al- Desouki remains undeterred in his mission to deva for animals in need. With the help of supportive individuals and the belief that he is guided by a higher power, he continues to be effective in the lives of countless furry creatures, one act of kindness at a time.

“ IDB President commends Guyana
IMPRESSED with Guyana’s rapid economic growth, President of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Ilan Goldfajn, says “no other country recently has had such a prolonged period of growth.”
He made these remarks on Saturday at the XII Annual Consultation with Caribbean Governors of the IDB, which was held at the Guyana Marriott Hotel in Georgetown.
While giving Guyana high praise, Goldfajn stated that President, Dr Irfaan Ali has been vocal on several issues such as climate, energy and food security and its impact on the Caribbean region.
Placing focus on climate change, as this küresel phenomenon leaves crippling effects on the Caribbean region, the IDB President highlighted that environmental strategies such as Guyana’s Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS) are important.”

BUT, Unknown to the Guyanese Public, With this comes a loan that we do not need OR asked for, and which will carry HEAVY BURDEN for repayment terms.
Know from my HIGH BACK CHANNELS, that, it is most shocking, THAT the Guyana Government and Ministers DO KNOW, how these banks – IDB, IMF, CDB, line up to gain arrangements with the Government, and to have their people in Consulting and Projects’ Contracts. These BANKS & AGENCIES are also very disparaging of each other. On paper, they come over as benevolent “do-gooders”, but it is all a BIG HUSTLE. Sad to say, Jobs for friends, land, deals, kickbacks…Cash IS King, and am mühlet ALL the Governments of Guyana are FINDING THIS OUT the hard way.
With DUE RESPECT, with the SKILLS and CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS SHORTAGES, it will be MUCH better to use the USD ANNUAL BILLIONS from the OIL REVENUES, for a PEOPLE CENTERED GOVERNMENT, with FEWER INFRASTRUCTURAL Projects and NO LOANS, with SELF FINANCING of projects and quality of life for ALL Guyanese.
WITH RESPECT, INQUIRY and INTEREST, the following POINTS are shared with reference to the IDB President Ilan Goldfajn, saying that “no other country recently has had such a prolonged period of growth, STATEMENT.”
- Are you impressed with Guyana’s 48% poverty rate ?
- Are you impressed with Guyana’s 28% unemployment rate ?
- Are you impressed with the low-quality social services ?
- Are you impressed with the prohibitive cost of living ?
- Of course, you will be impressed with roads, bridges and buildings, because growth means growth in economic and infrastructural development, for self-interests.
- For IDB, IMF, CDB, human and social development is never a priority because that is not in their best interests, since the EXPLOITATION of the working class through cheap labour and low wages and salaries, IS their INDIVIDUAL and COLLECTIVE Priorities.
- COMMONSENSE, coupled with STREET SMARTS, it is WISER to use our OWN MONIES than to BORROW LOANS with HIGH interest rates and CONDITIONS.
- ALL THESE LOAN CONTRACTS should be tabled in PARLIAMENT, after the parliamentary committee examination for appropriateness, with appropriate changes.

Georgetown among 9 cities forecast to be under water by 2030 – Climate Central
November 7, 2021: KN: Kaieteur News – Worrying details from a Climate Central map illustrates that Georgetown, Guyana, and eight other cities worldwide are forecast to be under water by 2030, due to the rising sea level
stemming from climate change.

It was reported that the area that is projected to be under water by 2030 is where 90 percent of Guyana’s population resides. It was also stated that for centuries Guyana’s capital, Georgetown, has relied on sea walls – or, more accurately, one gigantic, 280-mile-long sea wall, for protection.
The sea walls are Georgetown’s main defence because most of the coastline is between 0.5 and one metre below high tide. With more than half of the country’s population in danger, it was stated that the country will need to bolster its sea wall substantially if Georgetown’s central areas are to avoid massive damage.
8 other CITIES on the LIST of being SUBMERGED by 2030 are: AMSTERDAM, Netherlands; BASRA, Iraq; NEW ORLEANS, USA; VENICE, Italy; HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam; KOLKATA, India; BANGKOK, Thailand and SAVANNAH, USA.
The Climate Central map was created based on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) 2021 report. Climate Central is an independent group of scientists and communicators who research and report the facts about climate change and how it affects people’s lives, and the IPCC is the United Nations body for assessing the science related to climate change.
While the map shows future sea levels, it does not illustrate what could happen during flooding or other extreme weather events.
This ITEM should be an URGENT DEBATE in Parliament with input from CIVIL SOCIETY, TRADE UNIONS and RELIGIOUS Organizations.
