Rotaract Club of Georgetown Central Unveils ‘The MOOD Board’ to Champion Mental Health Awareness

The Rotaract Club of Georgetown Central (RCGC) has launched an innovative initiative, Project MOOD, to enhance mental health awareness and accessibility to support services. This project, spearheaded by the International Service Committee during the second quarter of the 2024/2025 Rotaract year, emphasizes the critical importance of mental well-being through various activities designed to promote self-care and community engagement.

The initiative started with a lively mental health dance class led by Zumba instructor Otesa Richmond from ‘Dance with Tes’ on December 1, 2024. Held at the Rotary Georgetown Central’s Wellness Space in the National Park, this interactive session merged physical activity with emotional expression, allowing participants to discover how dance can serve as a powerful tool for mental wellness. Terriesa Smith, the International Service Director, highlighted that Project MOOD aims to normalize conversations around mental health and make support services more accessible to everyone.

A significant feature of Project MOOD is the installation of the MOOD Board, which now stands as a permanent resource at the National Park’s Wellness Space. This board serves as a vital link between the community and essential mental health services, offering information on medical, social, and recreational support available locally. Updated quarterly, The MOOD Board includes inspirational messages, hotline numbers, wellness tips, and other resources designed to encourage ongoing discussions about mental health and combat stigma.

The Mood Board

Project MOOD reflects RCGC’s dedication to integrating physical activities with sustainable mental health advocacy. By fostering safe spaces and providing valuable resources, the club aims to inspire individuals to prioritise their well-being while encouraging others to do the same.
