Last week the Öğlen Mandir, East Coast Demerara, hosted Gyaan Yajna. This event, on the Hindu calendar, marks the celebration of knowledge, devotion, and spiritual unity. It brought together hindus members from across the region.
Former Mayor of Georgetown, Pandit (Pt). Ubraj Narine, were among those who attended the event and addressed the devotees. As a revered figure in the Hindu community Narine took the opportunity to speak to the gathering about the importance of standing strong together as one.
He encouraged the Hindu community to unite in the face of challenges, emphasising that the strength of the community lies in its collective faith, shared values, and commitment to preserving cultural traditions.
“In times of adversity, we must stand together, support one another, and uphold the principles of love, respect, and devotion that have been the cornerstone of our faith for generations,” he told devotees.
Narine told Village Voice News, the Gyaan Yajna event was filled with prayers, hymns, and insightful teachings. According to the former mayor, it was a perfect opportunity for community members to reflect on the importance of spiritual growth and collective well-being.
The event was organised to foster deeper connections among attendees and promote the teachings of Hinduism, which encourage both individual and collective growth.
