Dear Editor,
A schedule put out by the government on December 4 on distribution of the $100,000 grant lists several masjids and community centers. The distribution of other grants and pension books similarly listed masjids. There is evidence of religious bias. Churches and Mandirs were not chosen as places to distribute pension books and grants.
Ever since Irfaan Ali became President, there has been an increasing blurring of separation of the state from religion. Contractors complained about favoritism based on religious affiliation in the awarding of government contracts. Many individuals were hired and or promoted on account of their faith. Hospitals and prisons allowed missionaries to preach and convert Christians and Hindus, preaching extremism.
All religions must be treated equally. The state must not become entwined in religious matters or give preference of one faith over another. The government must be neutral.
Government must cease and desist from using masjids and other religious building for state programs and events.
Yours truly,
Nathan Barton
