It was under a year when we read the headline: Nigel Dharamlall under investigation for rape. And it was within a matter of days when we saw the most astounding of headlines: DPP ends rape case against Nigel Dharamlall. So, faced with similar headlines in less than a year, involving Nigel Dharamlall, understandably have us worried about this developing pattern. That is, worried how many more women and children have to endure sexual abuses, before PPP hold the sexual predators to account? In fact, it would appear, notwithstanding the brave many who come forward after these traumatic experiences, PPP and the installed government, will forever be on the side of the serial rapists.
And it’s for this reason, faced with these PPP leaders who know not of accountability, we are compelled to rhetorically question. Which American politician would survive allegations of statutory rape and abortion, of vulnerable children? Which British politician would survive allegations of rape and sodomy, of a vulnerable 16yr old child? Which Canadian politician would survive allegations of attempted rape, of a vulnerable woman? The fact is, none in a civilise society, would’ve politically survived these criminally perverted acts. As a matter of fact, all would’ve faced prosecution and a certain end to political life.
Thus, we query, why these international standards aren’t applicable to PPP, and this installed government? How do these PPP leaders escape with the most depraved of acts, without facing the consequences? Why is it always Nigel Dharamlall, an apparent repeat offender, with these most twisted of sexual allegations? In fact, who could forget the dildo comment directed at a female Parliamentarian, in the most hallowed of Parliament? Moreover, who could forget the numerous allegations of statutory rapes, where many of the victims were forced into underage abortions? As a matter of fact, who could forget the 16yr old Indigenous girl who made allegations of rape and sodomy.
Now having earned this most depraved of reputation, Nigel Dharamlall through his own actions, has added to his list of deplorable allegations. But unfortunately for him, this alleged victim represents a brave and steadfastly tenacious Economist, who refuses to be manipulated. In fact, she is a former CSEC valedictorian, and alumnus of the prestigious Florida International University. However, despite her stellar academic record, Sarah Aneesah Hakh, is the exemplar of a vulnerable woman. A vulnerable woman who was seeking employment, at the mercy of a powerful and influential politician. A vulnerable woman, Nigel Dharamlall allegedly made unwanted sexual advances to. A vulnerable woman, who allegedly repeatedly said no, even as Nigel Dharamlall allegedly perform unwarranted sexual acts on her. A vulnerable woman, at the mercy of the many politically blind in PPP, who publicly doubt her rape allegations.
Mark’s Take
But Nigel Dharamlall isn’t alone, as a sitting MP and former PPP Minister, who faced allegations of sexual misconduct. For the list of such alleged sexual deviants is voluminous, inclusive of Kwame Mc Coy MP, Allister Charlie MP, Pandit Vikash Ramkissoon MP, Ganga Persaud among others. However, what’s concerning is, despite the serious nature of these allegations, none have faced prosecution. And this was evident in Ms. Hakh allegations, where the police were in a state of inaction, until the Press Association went public with their concerns. In fact, this represents PPP modus operandi, in protecting sexual predators among other criminals, through the corrupt Police Force and the DPP.
Having said that, with allegations of perverted acts inevitably implicating a PPP politician, the reality confronting us is, unless PPP take the necessary steps to address this scourge, this endemic will not go away. In fact, unless those who are sexually and physically abusive to our women and children, are held to account, our women and children will forever be traumatised victims. Moreover, unless steps are taken to address corruption in both the Police Force and the DPP, these sexual miscreants will be empowered to carry out their depraved acts. Furthermore, unless steps are taken to depoliticise both the police and the DPP, then these bodies will always be accountable to the perverted politicians, rather than the people.
That said, they’re many unanswered questions in Nigel Dharamlall’s prior allegation, however, even as we try to rationalise it, we are confronted with yet another allegation. So, even as we try to rationalise both, and likely many, we are faced with the reality that Nigel Dharamlall, based on his multiple allegations, may very well have much more than a meşru problem.
