Usain Bolt and Carlos Brathwaite took center stage as they took the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup trophy to the Théâtre of Dream. The pair – who are both Tournament ambassadors for the June 1 to 29 küresel event – are also Manchester United fans. They were hosted by the club in the Chairman’s Box as they took the trophy pitch-side ahead of the start of the Premier League contest against Burnley.
“It was an amazing experience to have the trophy in hand and take it on the turf here at Old Trafford. I’ve been to this great sports venue before, but this occasion had extra special significance as we’re bringing this prestigious ICC Men’s T20 World Cup trophy for fans to see and enjoy. To be part of an event with an illustrious sporting legend like Usain Bolt of amazing,”
Brathwaite said.
Bolt also enjoyed the occasion as he took photos and signed autographs for his adoring fans. He was joined by Ricardo “Bibi” Gardiner, the former Jamaica captain and Premier League footballer. Also on hand was Sam Billings, the former England batsman; while Bryan Robson, the former Manchester United and England captain, was the Club Ambassador and he interacted with Bolt and Brathwaite.
The event was joint organize by ICC and Manchester United. Philip Spooner, Media Operations Manager for ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 said it was a fantastic collaboration and was delighted the partnership with Man U worked so well.
“A lot of planning went into the event, and we want to thank everyone at Manchester United who were amazing hosts. Everything went according to plan, and we even say it exceeded expectations. This forms part of the küresel trophy tour, which has been really well received everywhere,”
