It’s not every day one gets that experience of being on the receiving end of some pants wetting, belly aching, high quality jokes. But right here in our 83000sq miles, under this installed PPP government, we are being ridiculously amused with an almost daily dose of comedy extraordinaire. In fact, the comedy is of such contagious hilarity, it ought to have been registered on the world renown, Def Comedy Jam series. As a matter of fact, with the two buffoons, Irfaan Ali and Bharat Jagdeo at the helm, this PPP pantomime would reign supreme in the contemporary circus, Cirque Du Soleil.
For the opening act of their Cirque Du Soleil, was the manifesto, which promised to generate in one electoral cycle, 50,000 jobs. Fifty thousand jobs, if realised, could miraculously lead to life transformation of the unemployed multitude. But with us being aware of their history of torrential lies, meant we sat back with coke and popcorn, ready to be entertained. However, as it so happened, 3yrs passed, and nothing was heard or seen, of the 50,000 jobs. Nevertheless, the long-suffering many, registering more faith than Lazarus, remained prayerful for the day the first job would be realised. Then coincidentally on the fourth-year mark, just before the launch of their long overdue Party Congress, PPP through their two clueless clowns, announced that 50,000 jobs were created out of thin air.
Therefore, with 50,000 persons supposedly provided with a PPP job, the search was on to ascertain who made the list. And for obvious reasons, the starting point was PPP strongholds, since only that subset was being rewarded roads, infrastructure developments and contracts. But after a most detailed search, surprisingly none registered any of the 50,000 jobs. Which means, the search ventured to the sugar workers, having been recently reclassified by PPP as, The Special Ones. However, it appeared that they weren’t that special after all, since none was rewarded with a job.
Nevertheless, the search continued fervently, covering all geographic poles, inclusive of the high heavens and deep seas. But despite daily backbreaking searches, none could have identified one who registered with these PPP 50,000 jobs. Then just when the masses crossed the threshold of despondency, a timely cacophonous bellow emanated from the direction of Freedom House. Where that bellow heard was none other than King Liar himself, volunteering a further clue on how to geolocate some of the recipients, of the 50,000 jobs. In fact, the clue delivered and heard, was beyond jocularly jaw-dropping: 20,000 jobs were uniquely created for Black people. And with such a hilariously chucklesome announcement, the press crew was uncontrollably laughing out loud, until one of their very own made the most outrageous of inquiry: “Would those offered jobs have to be registered as PPP tokens?”
But none, having been rendered in a state of stupefied mystification, couldn’t addressed this most scandalous of question. For the reality is, under this installed government, Black people are only on the receiving end of discrimination, victimisation and deadly bullets. As a result, the search continued high and low, to identify the 20,000 Blacks who were trained to take up PPP jobs. However, despite the exploration of all PPP neglected ghettos and shantytowns, none was identified or forthcoming, as recipients of these PPP phantom jobs.
Mark’s Take
In fact, these supposedly 20,000 Afro-Guyanese jobs, when viewed in the context of PPP discriminatory policies, have to be the most outrageous of naked lies. As a matter of fact, it’s hardly coincidental, these fictional jobs were announced on the heels of the damning UNCHR report, which exposed on the international stage, PPP discriminatory policies. Moreover, with the UNCHR report being internationally injurious to the installed government, it’s almost certain, this convenient announcement is a desperate attempt at changing the political narrative.
However, if one needs to evidence PPP discriminatory policy towards Afro-Guyanese, one may not look further than their treatment of IDPADA-G. For IDPADA-G represents the UN designated decade for the recognition and empowerment of people of African descent. But PPP, demonstrably anti-Black, defunded IDPADA-G in contravention of the UN declaration. And not satisfied with the defunding, PPP is on a campaign of disparaging IDPADA-G, labelling it as a political organisation among other allegations, without an iota of evidence.
Thus, when this is examined in the context of the extrajudicial killings of Afro-Guyanese men, along with their criminalisation, the conclusion has to be, PPP isn’t a defender of Afro-Guyanese men. As a matter of fact, based on their record of discrimination, victimisation and extrajudicial killings, it can be concluded that in general, they aren’t defenders of Afro-Guyanese. And it’s on this record of unbridled discrimination among other atrocities, they now want us to believe, that nearly 50% of the 50,000 phantom jobs, are being apportioned to us, the long-suffering many.
